FIFA VOTE ? HOW THE PROCESS WILL WORK

Facts about the FIFA vote to decide who stages the 2006 World Cup finals, which will take place on Thursday in Zurich.

Bids: England, Germany, Morocco, South Africa
Voters: The 24 members of the executive committee of FIFA.
Voting procedure: The vote is secret. Every member has one vote. The winner needs an absolute majority. There will be a maximum five rounds of voting.
Round 1: If a country gets 13 votes, it is over. Otherwise, the country with the fewest votes drops out. In case of a tie, a vote decides which candidate disappears.
Round 2: The 24 members now vote for three candidates. Round 3: The final between the two remaining bids. FIFA president Sepp Blatter has the casting vote in case of a tie.

Timetable (all times GMT):
1130: The executive committee members arrive in Zurich's Messe Hall, where the vote takes place. 1200: Blatter announces the winner at a news conference.
