SPORTASIA.COM APPOINTS DENTSU SPORTS MARKETING DIRECTOR

Sportasia.com, the Asian internet sports content producer, syndicator and distributor, has appointed Ikuya Tanaka of Dentsu?s Sports Marketing Division as a board director.

Mr. Tanaka is a director with Sports Marketing Division, Dentsu Inc. and oversees all of Dentsu?s sports related activities. These include the sale of sponsorship packages for major events such as the Olympics and FIFA World Cup, sports celebrity endorsement, and the sale of broadcast rights of many international sports events.

Sportasia.com Limited is a 50:50 joint venture formed in April 2000 between the global news agency, Agence France Press (AFP) and Asia?s leading Internet business, Chinadotcom Corporation.

Sportasia.com?s roll-out plan includes the launch of a simplified Chinese version for China in August, as well as traditional Chinese for Taiwan and Hong Kong. Other language-specific versions for India, Thailand, Japan and Korea are also planned.
