The facility included an outdoor athletic, football, netball and other sports surfaces, including an indoor games centre and was officially opened by Sport Minister Nconde Balfour.
The sports centre had been constructed over a four-year-period.
The project formed part of the UK-South Africa Sports Initiative launched in 1994 by former president Mandela and the former UK Prime Minister, John Major.
A multi-million rand community sports facility, sponsored by the UK aerospace and defence company, BAE Systems has opened in KwaNobuhle, Uitenhage in the Eastern Cape.
