VOTE FOR ASIAN GAMES 2006 TAKES PLACE THIS WEEKEND

Delegations from four cities bidding for the 2006 Asian Games will gather in the South Korean city of Pusan this weekend for last-minute lobbying ahead of Sunday's vote to decide the host city for the event.

Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur are emerging as frontrunners, ahead of New Delhi and Doha.
"We have put in a good bid and I think our chances are good," Tony Eason, secretary of Hong Kong's bid committee, said from Pusan, host of the 2002 Games.
Forty-two members of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) will vote on Sunday to determine the winner.
Hong Kong's decision to bid sparked controversy in the territory after a government study revealed that staging the Games would cost taxpayers HK$945 million (US$121 million).
