CALGARY FUNDS $4.1M ?ICE HOUSE?

The Calgary Olympic Development Association (CODA) has funded the development of a new $4.1 million facility dedicated to ice sports.

?The Ice House? is the only indoor iced track of its kind in the world and is being built exclusively for Bobsleigh, Luge and Skeleton athletes to practice on their starts, crucial to the winning of international competitions.

While there are several other ?push? facilities throughout Europe, the CODA National Sliding Centre is the only fully enclosed facility not exposed to the elements.

?The Ice House? will also house the new CODA Sport Centre consisting of administration offices, a storage area and timing centre, complete with state-of-the art timing and result systems.

The centre will also offer athletes pan-tilt cameras featuring multiple angles, and automatic start and record for each push.

The facility is under construction by CANA Construction, designed by Reid Crowther and will be managed by CODA for a project completion date of February 2001.
