FIFA RIGHT TO CHOOSE AFRICA ? MOROCCO

FIFA's choice of Africa to host the 2010 World Cup was right and overdue, a leading Moroccan Football Federation official said on Friday.

?This is not a surprise rather a confirmation but justice is being done at last," Said Belkhayat said.
Morocco has already stated its intention of bidding for 2010 - which would be its fourth attempt to take the World Cup finals to North Africa.
It fell in the first round of last year's ballot to decide the hosts of the 2006 World Cup finals. Germany controversially won that vote, narrowly beating South Africa.
"it's now up to Africa to present a good candidate," said Belkhayat, who is also a member of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) executive committee.
He did not rule out a joint bid, involving another North African country such as Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco "or even Egypt".
"That would be superb but I think first FIFA wants to see how it will go next year with Japan and South Korea," he said.
Japan and South Korea are co-hosting the next finals in 2002.
