Several national associations have posted an interest in both the 2003 and 2005 editions - the second in case they fail to get the first.
The countries staking an interest in 2003 are: Australia, Egypt, England, Iran, Japan, Mexico, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Scotland, Tunisia, Uruguay and the United States.
Those aiming for 2005 are: Australia, Croatia, Egypt, England, Guatemala, Japan, South Korea, Kuwait, Morocco, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Scotland, Uruguay and the U.S..
Each national association has until May 31 either to confirm, or withdraw, its candidature and to submit its bid documentation which will include potential host cities.
The decision on the host countries for both events will be made at FIFA's Executive Committee meeting in Buenos Aires on July 5.
The 2001 World Club Championship will be held in Spain from July 28 to August 12
