"Our secretary-general, Worawi Makudi, sent a letter to FIFA last weekend urging a change of venue and we are awaiting the answer from FIFA," the official said.
The official said the association had requested the change of venue for safety concerns. Thailand have been drawn to face Iran, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Bahrain in Group A of Asia's World Cup qualifying tournament.
United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Qatar, Oman and China make up Group B.
The winners of each group in the Asian competition will automatically qualify for the World Cup finals in Japan and South Korea next year.
The runners-up in each group will play-off to determine who will play one of the nine European runners-up in a home and away playoff for qualification to the finals.
In their preparations for the World Cup qualifiers, the Thai team beat Singapore 5-0 at the weekend.
