The combined business will have the exclusive rights to provide technology and related media services to more than 20 national governing bodies in the UK for their community and participation markets.
These sports include the England and Wales Cricket Board and MCC; Lawn Tennis Association; All England Netball; English Basketball, Baseball, Softball UK; British universities; Amateur Rugby; American football; fencing; hockey; disability sport and a range of second and third tier sports throughout the UK.
iSport UK was the wholly owned subsidiary of Australia-based iSport.com LLC which represents more than 40 national governing bodies worldwide. iSport UK acquired Britsport Limited in October 2000 as part of its stated ambitions to consolidate a fragmented market for technology services to the official governing bodies of participation-based sports.
Play-Sport New Media will be the acquiring vehicle in the 50/50 merger, subject to final shareholder approvals and various conditions precedent.
