SIX MORE CLUBS INVITED TO JOIN UEFA TASK FORCE

Six more of Europe's most prominent soccer clubs were invited on Monday to attend a meeting of the newly-formed UEFA Task Force on Friday to discuss the future of the game on the continent.

The European governing body said Barcelona, Lazio, Bayer Leverkusen, Real Madrid, Spartak Moscow and Rosenborg would join Ajax, Juventus, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, FC Porto and Lyon, who took part in the Task Force's first meeting on September 14 to consider reforms to European club competitions.

Among the proposals being considered by the "European Club Football 2000" Task Force, is the restructuring of the Champions' League and the merging of the Cup Winners' and UEFA Cups.

Europe's soccer governing body is expected to outline their proposals to head off the threat of a breakaway Super League when their Executive Committee meets in Lisbon at the beginning of October.

The new league is being proposed by a Milan-based media sales group called Media Partners who are proposing that an initial 18-club league is formed and starts competing in the 2000-01 season.
