Blatter & Rogge in talks

Two of sport’s most powerful men will meet tomorrow in a bid to bring their two organisations closer together.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter will meet an IOC delegation led by president Jacques Rogge at IOC headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, on Thursday.

Soccer’s chief administrator will be accompanied by Issa Hayatou (Cameroon), IOC member, FIFA vice-president and chairman of the organising committee for the Olympic Football Tournaments, Dr Michel D'Hooghe, member of the FIFA executive committee and chairman of the Sports Medical Committee, and FIFA general secretary Michel Zen-Ruffinen.

Topics for discussion at the meeting will include the general collaboration between FIFA and the IOC, the Olympic Football Tournaments in 2004, the fight against doping, Olympic Solidarity and the University of Sports project.

"I am looking forward to this meeting and I am confident that we can continue our excellent relationship and collaboration with the IOC which was established under Dr Jacques Rogge's predecessor," said Blatter.

It will be the first official meeting between the two sports leaders since the election of Dr Jacques Rogge as new IOC President in Moscow on 16 July.
