SAA flies to cricket sponsor deal

South African Airways (SAA) has signed a deal with cricket's world governing body the ICC to sponsor the Cricket World Cup in South Africa in 2003.

ICC chief executive officer Malcolm Speed unveiled SAA as an official sponsor, joining Pepsi, LG and Hero Honda. “We will also be announcing a number of other partners and sponsors in the coming months,” Speed added.

Speed expects the tournament to attract more than 800,000 spectators to attend the 54 matches held at 15 venues in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Kenya. He expects a television audience in excess of one billion viewers.
