Specific examples include a ban against the Olympic rings, flag, hymn and motto, as well as the illegal use of the terms 'Olympic', 'Olympics', 'Olympiad', 'Olympia' and 'Olympic Games' for commercial purposes.
These rights also include the logo and name of the China Olympic Committee and logos, mascots, names, signs (such as 'Beijing 2008'), slogans and the hymn of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Bid Committee and the nascent Beijing Olympic Organising Committee.
Beijing was awarded the 2008 Games on July 13, beating out rival cities Toronto, Canada; Paris, France; Istanbul, Turkey; and Osaka, Japan.
The International Olympic Committee and the Beijing Olympic Organising Committee will determine a business development plan for the Games by 2003.
