All UK staff - excluding the sales team - of Sportal have been told they will be made redundant following the sale of Sportal.com and Sportal.co.uk's URLs and trademarks.
However, Sportal Australia, Asia and South Africa remain unaffected by today's move.
The firm says it will continue operations to bring to an early conclusion existing partnerships it had - in particular with a number of leading soccer clubs such as Juventus, AC Milan, Bayern Munich and Paris-St Germain.
