SportsLine.com terminates Sandbox.com deal

SportsLine.com, the publisher of CBS SportsLine.com, has terminated an agreement to acquire Sandbox.com, a producer of fantasy sports products on the net.

Nasdaq-listed SportsLine.com terminated the agreement, the company said, due to Sandbox's “breach of certain representations and covenants in the acquisition agreement”.

Sandbox.com creates year-round fantasy sports games including baseball, football, basketball, hockey, golf and NASCAR.

The privately-held company also produces a sports stock market simulation.

Despite the withdrawal of its acquisition offer SportsLine.com said in a statement that it “remains committed to expanding and enhancing its robust database of approximately six million individuals and serving as the premier producer of fantasy sports games on the internet”.

SportsLine.com currently produces official fantasy games for NFL.com, MLB.com, the AOL service and CNNSI.com, in addition to those of CBS SportsLine.com.
