Players' union in Indian talks

England cricket's players' union is seeking to put the national team at ease over security in India ahead of their Friday lunchtime deadline on whether they will make the trip.

Richard Bevan, (pictured, left) managing director of the Professional Cricketers' Association (PCA), has been working with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to improve security for the tour as the players continue to consider their position.
It is believed up to six players could opt out of the tour.
Bevan said: "The ECB will be minimising the risk involved by putting into place new security measures. The PCA on behalf of the players will have approval of these measures before the tour proceeds.
"The chairman of the ECB Lord MacLaurin confirmed a security manager will more than likely be travelling with the players and staying in the hotels to ensure that all the agreed actions take place."
Indian cricket board president Jagmohan Dalmiya said that all security would be dealt with at government level. Each man in the squad has until noon on Friday to give Bevan his decision, which will then be passed on to the ECB.
