Ajax cut losses down to B8.2m ($8.2m) in the year to June 30, 2001, representing a B400,000 ($356,000) improvement on the previous year’s results.
Total turnover for the club, which currently tops the Dutch league, grew from B46.1m ($41m) to B49.5m ($44m), with small increases seen in all areas, except merchandising and season ticket sales.
The best performer was sponsorship, which rose B2.8m ($2.5m) to B17.84m ($15.8m) as the new deal with main sponsor ABN-AMRO was activated.
Deals with Siemens, Grolsch and Kellogg's also boosted sponsorship revenue.
TV income was only slightly up from the previous year's B2.97m ($2.6m) to B3.5m ($3.1m) – a tiny amount by the standards of the club’s rivals from the major European TV markets.
Ajax played in the UEFA Cup last season but were eliminated in the second round.
Dutch soccer club Ajax of Amsterdam has recorded year-end results in line with its moderate performances on the pitch in 2000/2001.
