Kent appoints Lord as president

English county cricket club Kent has appointed the former governor of the Bank of England to be its president next season.

Lord Kingsdown, who has also been chairman of the National Westminster Bank, served as a trustee of the club from 1973 until the club's incorporation in 1999 and remains a trustee of the club's
benevolent fund.

Said Kent's president for 2001, Derek Ufton: “He has a long-standing interest in cricket and has, of course, made a life-long contribution to Kent through his various roles in the public life of the county."
