The British driver believes Tommi Makinen and his co-driver were lucky to survive their crash in Corsica last weekend.
McRae also said that his own co-driver Nicky Grist raised concerns with the International Automobile Federation (FIA) before the rally about the stage where Makinen crashed.
"It is quite clear that Corsica is the most dangerous rally in the championship, I wouldn't be sorry to see it go," said Ford's McRae, who shares the championship lead with Makinen going into the last two rallies of the season.
The Finn overturned his Mitsubishi on a mountain road on Friday and skidded to the edge of a precipice.
Co-driver Risto Mannisenmaki underwent a four-hour operation on Monday after sustaining injuries in the crash, and has been replaced for the next round in Australia.
McRae – who had a major accident in Corsica last year – said in his Motorsport News column: "If Tommi's car had been a few inches further over, he would have been down that ravine and then who knows what would have happened.
"I think they would have been very, very lucky if they had got out of it without one of them being very seriously injured or even killed."
