NASCAR ratings dwarf F1 in the USA

The NASCAR Winston Cup race from Talladega, Alabama, recorded its highest ever TV ratings with a 4.4 and a ten viewer rating share.

NASCAR drew an audience of five million viewers which was ten percent of all people watching television at that point.

The recent United States Grand Prix at Indianapolis rated only a 1.1 with a two share on the Nielsen Media Research ratings system, which equated to an audience of around 1 million, a two percent share of the people watching TV when the Grand Prix was broadcast.
