The re-launch completion comes after a complicated series of transactions culminating in the sale of Rivals’ assets, including the Rivals brands and domain names, to AllianceSports in May of this year.
The decline of Rivals.com earlier this year was attributed to the market downturn and excessive spending. Ironically, the assets of AllianceSports, the world's first subscription-based network of college team sites, were acquired by Rivals.com in January 2000.
The new AllianceSports/Rivals.com network works on a subscription-based model, providing exclusive premium content for sports enthusiasts. "We have already attracted thousands of subscribers, and have built a premier network of enticing content for the hard-core sports fan,'' said Shannon Terry, former co-founder of AllianceSports, and now president of Rivals.com.
The re-launch includes a new home page (www.rivals.com), re-branding of all network sites as Rivals.com sites, and easy navigation features to the Rivals.com networks These consist of the AllianceSports college network, Rivals100 recruiting network, RivalsHoops basketball recruiting network, RivalsHigh high school network, and Rivals Expert Sites.
"This has been a very exciting achievement for us,'' said Jerry Cover, CEO of Rivals.com. "With the help of a phenomenal staff, our network of Rivals' best publishers and recruiting experts, and a robust technology platform, we have recreated in just a few months what took Rivals' former management and engineering teams years to accomplish.”
