Sky Play enables subscribers to make a series of predictions as a live Premiership soccer match is played, and will be broadcast on Sky Digital for the first time this weekend during Leeds United's game against Chelsea. Participants pay £1.50 ($2.17/B2.41) per play, with cash prizes up to £3,000 ($4,331/B4,802) on offer, and Sky Sports will run the responsive, live interactivity and handle the scoring and billing for the game.
Two Way TV worked closely with the broadcaster in the development of Playlive technology, which will be exclusive to Sky Digital.
Matthew Tims, chief executive of Two Way TV, said the company’s aim has been to deliver “interactive programming that enables the audience to join in with the on-screen action”.
“It is an ideal combination and we are exploring similar deals that will quickly spread the word among viewers generally that there is something new to do with your television set.”
Announcing the new service, Vic Wakeling, managing director of Sky Sports, said: "There are so many smart computer games in the market these days, but this is new and completely different - testing your skill against the background of a live football match."B B B
