TWI signs new BBC snooker deal

UK broadcaster the BBC has signed a new two-year production deal with independent UK production company TWI for the world’s leading snooker tournaments.

The deal, which started with coverage of this month’s LG Cup broadcast on BBC 2, includes the UK Championships, the Benson & Hedges Masters and the World Championship.

TWI head of production Graham Fry said: “TWI is delighted with this contract. We have a long history of successful snooker coverage based on our development and innovative skills.”

The company is promising further innovations in production, including the use of new graphics, an overhaul of the presentation team and greater audience interactivity.

Barbara Slater, head of general sport for the BBC, said the broadcaster was “excited to play a role innovating and re-energising snooker on television".
