Envision takes on Europe

US sports marketing firm, Envision Sports and Entertainment, is expanding into Europe, appointing former ISL chiefs Chris Renner and Mark Devenport in the process.

Envision, part of Anschutz Entertainment Group, the US provider of US stadium naming rights, says it has identified Europe as the next big market. Envision currently has a portfolio of $700million (B760.29m) in naming rights deals, including the Staples Center in Los Angeles (pictured), the Adelphia in Nashville and Phillips Arena in Atlanta.
Envision Europe will be based in Lucern, Switzerland, and is looking to expand its branches to London, Berlin and Stockholm to add to its US offices in Los Angeles, New York, Washington, Chicago and Denver.

Envision president and CEO Jeff Knapple said Renner would become executive vice president of the sponsorship and naming rights firm while Devenport would serve as managing director of the European office working closely with Renner on the company’s overseas assets.

Working in tandem, Renner and Devenport will be responsible for extending Envision’s portfolio globally. Pending government and planning permission, the first priority is in Germany, where Envision Europe will be responsible for a naming rights and founding partner programme pursuant to AEG’s major development project in the former East Berlin. The project includes a 20,000-seat multi-purpose arena and entertainment district.

The company’s global outreach includes partnerships with premier venues in China including the Guangdong Olympic Center located in the city of Guangzhou and the Shanghai Sports Center, both stadiums seating 80,000.

Envision was recently selected to assist the Louisiana Stadium and Exposition District in securing a naming rights partner for the Louisiana Superdome.
