NFL ratings slump spreads to MNF

The weekend TV ratings slump for the NFL continued with the viewing figures for the flagship Monday Night Football (MNF) show slipping on the previous year.

Following the recent terrorist attacks on the US, interest in the NFL, whose season has just got under way, has understandably become a lesser priority.

In only its second broadcast of the season, the MNF show drew an 11.6 rating for its coverage of the Green Bay Packers' 37-0 demolition of the Washington Redskins according to Nielsen overnight numbers. The game brought an 18 share of network audience for its host broadcaster ABC Sports.

These figures were a drop from the 13.5 rating that the second MNF telecast of last season attracted for the game between the New York Jets and the New England Patriots.
