Super Bowl date switch?

Tagged in

The National Football League may yet switch the date of Super Bowl to accommodate the round of matches lost in the aftermath of last week’s terrorist atrocity.

League officials say that the 16 game regular season will be maintained, with the lost games being played between January 5 and 7. However that weekend would have been the first week of wildcard games.

If the entire post season programme cannot be rearranged it is likely that the league will opt for a system of a final eight made up of six division winners augmented by two wild card teams for this season only.

Super Bowl is scheduled to take place in New Orleans on January 27 and any adjustment would see it shifted to the following Sunday.
