The club’s commercial director Nic Cartwright, told reporters on Monday that he is in talks with a number of parties, including the team’s current director David Hughes, about taking over the Super League club from Richard Branson.
Also on the agenda for the club is finding a new stadium for its players after Premier League soccer team Charlton Athletic, which shares a pitch with the Broncos in South East London, rejected the opportunity to take them over last week.
There is speculation that northern teams York and Leigh are interested in buying the Broncos in an attempt to help them win promotion to the Super League. But the move would leave England’s capital short of a Rugby League team at a time when the sport is trying to win support in areas such as London where Rugby Union is traditionally more popular.
