Blatter 'looking forward' to explaning ISL collapse

FIFA president Sepp Blatter says he is looking forward to Wednesday's potentially damaging meeting of his executive committee so he can explain in full the situation surrounding the collapse of FIFA's former marketing partners ISMM/ISL.

Blatter is facing a possible vote of no-confidence in his presidency from European soccer's governing body UEFA at FIFA's extra-ordinary congress in Buenos Aires on July 6-7.
UEFA president Lennart Johansson, who stood against Blatter for the FIFA presidency in 1998 and lost, said last month that unless Blatter explained in full everything relating to the collapse of the company with debts of around $300 million, they would consider proposing the no-confidence vote in him.

But Blatter was in bullish mood on Sunday and said: "I am looking forward to the meetings of the Finance Committee and the Executive Committee this week in Zurich.
"On Monday we will receive the report from the administrator, the audit company Ernst and Young. On Tuesday the Finance Committee will assess the situation and on Wednesday all the details will be presented to the Executive Committee.

"I have sent seven letters to the Confederations since March keeping them fully informed of the ISL issue.
"Now the situation looks more positive than ever because of the work done by the new FIFA Marketing company. We have brought on board three new sponsors and I think this has brought a lot of tranquility to FIFA."

In an obvious reference to UEFA, he added: "I think this will also act as a tranquiliser for those doubting the FIFA situation."
