Comcast increased its equity in The Golf Channel from 60 per cent to 92 per cent by selling all its equity in Speedvision, bar a minority stake, to Fox Cable Networks in exchange. The deal also included Comcast buying up Fox’s controlling stake in outdoor adventure channel, Outdoor Life Network.
The transfer of programming interests had been mooted for a number of months before final agreement on the terms of the deal was made towards the end of May. The completion of the negotiations will mean that the transfer of assets will be effective immediately.
US broadcaster Comcast Corporation has completed its acquisition of The Golf Channel from rival cable provider Fox with motor racing network Speedvision going the other way as part of the deal.
