Blatter aide confident ahead of ExCom grilling

Michel Zen-Ruffinen, general secretary of soccer’s governing body FIFA, emerged from a Finance Committee meeting on Tuesday confident that president Sepp Blatter could answer all the questions relating to the collapse of its marketing partner ISL.

But the gruelling day-long meeting that saw Blatter, Zen-Ruffinen and the seven-member Finance Committee pore over an auditor's report and FIFA's books offered only a small taste of what awaits the FIFA president on Wednesday when he will be grilled by members of his own Executive Committee.
Blatter will be called upon to answer 25 detailed questions from UEFA relating to his running of world soccer's ruling body.
But if Blatter cannot satisfactorily answer the questions put to him by an increasingly sceptical executive then a no-confidence vote may well follow.
"It's a rumour going around in the press but I have no idea if it's people’s intention to do that," said Zen-Ruffinen, when asked about the possibility of the Executive Committee proposing a no-confidence vote at next month's congress in Buenos Aires.
"I do not even know if it is possible to do that at an Executive Committee meeting but let's wait and see tomorrow.
"In the famous 25 questions raised yesterday, the ones relating to finance were all covered today.
"But there are a lot of other questions for tomorrow's meeting that weren't discussed today."
Many of those questions relate to day-to-day running of soccer's world body and will challenge Blatter's ability to lead the sport.
