Cuba wants the Games of 2012

Encouraged by the success of communist Beijing being awarded the 2008 Olympics, Cuba has announced its intention to bid for the 2012 event.

"China is not a wealthy country. It is a country that fights to improve conditions," said Jose Ramon Fernandez, president of the Cuban Olympic Committee.
"I think that should encourage us to apply for the 2012 Games in Havana."
Cuba applied for the Games of 2008 but its application was rejected.
