Tour De France boosts British Eurosport ratings

British Eurosport’s coverage of cycling’s Tour de France race helped the satellite channel attract an average audience of 69,000 on Sunday.

According to British Eurosport, this figure beat off the combined average viewership of the three Sky Sports channels which totalled 61,000. The coverage of the Tour de France was well supported by the Moto GP and the CART 500 race in Michigan.
Arjan Hoekstra, deputy managing director of British Eurosport, stated: “These figures highlight that British Eurosport can more than compete with our rival sports channels when Premiership football is not taken into the equation. We have a strong portfolio of sports broadcast this summer led by our live coverage of the Tour de France.”
