The NBA said more than 14.8 million impressions were registered on June 7, the day after the Philadelphia 76ers' stunning overtime upset of the Los Angeles Lakers in Game One of the championship series. Los Angeles, reigning NBA champs, currently leads the best-of-seven championship series three games to one.
The internet figures marked an increase of 100 percent in visitors and 396 percent boost in impressions over the comparable day a year earlier.
After English, the most popular languages with fans for free live streaming audio of Games One through Three were Mandarin, Spanish, Japanese, French and Italian, the NBA said.
Also among the 12 languages being broadcast are German, Greek, Hebrew, Korean, Arabic and Dutch.
Through Game Three of these 2001 Finals, June 5-11, nearly six million visitors registered 80 million impressions, marking a 40 percent increase in visitors and a 200 percent increase in impressions compared to last year's Finals in the comparable period.
Since the beginning of this year's playoffs, more than 8.5 million audio and video files of playoff action have been downloaded, the league said.
The National Basketball Association's web site, NBA.com, set a single-day record with nearly 1.2 million visitors the day after the exciting opening game of the NBA Finals, the league has said.
