Temporary fencing to be erected for next cricket clash

Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club will erect temporary fencing and double the number of stewards at Trent Bridge for Tuesday's one-day NatWest Series international between Pakistan and Australia.

The decision follows crowd violence at Headingley in Leeds on Sunday where England conceded their one-day match in the triangular series after a steward sustained broken ribs when hundreds of spectators invaded the pitch.
Nottinghamshire chief executive David Collier said the club had also contacted the Home Office on Monday seeking emergency legislation to introduce fines for pitch invaders.
England and Wales Cricket Board chief executive Tim Lamb was scheduled to meet his Australian counterpart Malcolm Speed on Monday to discuss possible measures. Australia also meet Pakistan at Lord's in the final on Saturday.
Australian Cricket Board public affairs general manager Brendan McClements said there was no question of cancelling Tuesday's game.
"There was never any sense that we were not going to play the game," he said. "Our focus is obviously on protecting the interests and safety of the Australian players.
"We just want a sensible review of the security arrangements."
