Leicester shares climb on bid confirmation

Shares in Premier League soccer club Leicester City rose sharply this morning after the club confirmed it had received a takeover offer from former director Gilbert Kinch. Shares in the club rose 6.5p to 55p in early trading, valuing the club at £20.9m ($29.4m).

Kinch was ousted form the board in a bitter row two years ago and his offer is expected to be rejected. Last month the club raised £28m ($39.3m) through a bond issue to finance the building of a new 32,000 capacity stadium.
