Premier league to promote Britain as tourist destination

English soccer’s Premier League and Barclaycard have signed a two-year partnership deal with the British Tourist Authority designed to promote Britain as a top tourist destination.

The agreement will make use of the Premiership's potential global audience of 160 million per week to promote the VisitBritain website - www.visitbritain.com - following the damage done to the tourist industry by the foot and mouth crisis.
The BTA's deputy's chief executive Sue Garland said: "This partnership will give Britain unprecedented, positive exposure and is absolutely invaluable in the wake of the damage wrought by foot and mouth."
Chief executive of the FA Premier League Richard Scudamore added: "Through harnessing the global appeal of football and the marketing potential of all three organisations, we hope to be able to play our part."
