Samaranch, 81, who stepped down earlier this year from the post of president, has been receiving treatment at the clinic in Barcelona for the last few weeks.
According to official IOC statements, Samaranch has been suffering from high blood pressure brought on by ‘extreme fatigue’.
The former president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Juan Antonio Samaranch, is due to be released from a Spanish hospital later this week.
