Roger S. Goodell is commissioner of the NFL (National Football League). He assumed the position as of September 1, 2006.
He was appointed to the post after winning a vote to follow in the footsteps of retiring commissioner, Paul Tagliabue.
He had worked within the NFL since 1982 in a variety of different posts.
