Michel Platini

Michel Platini is a former French footballer turned administrator. He is currently the president of European soccer governing body UEFA.

A hugely successful player, he starred for the likes of Juventus, Saint Etienne and Nancy during a 15 year career.

But his crowning glories came as part of the French national team. He appeared in World Cup finals and spearheaded France's successful 1984 European Championship campaign which saw the nation lift the trophy.

Since retiring from the game, and a spell as manager of France, he has become an administrator of note - co-ordinating the organisation of France's hosting of the 1998 World Cup finals and then becoming president of UEFA in 2007.
