Flavio Briatore is an Italian businessman best known for his involvement in the Formula One World Championship.
Prior to that, however, he made his name through his involvement with the fashion chain Benetton where he oversaw a period of huge growth through a blend of clever franchising and advertising campaigns.
It was with the Benetton F1 team he made his name in the sport leading the team to triumph on and off the track.
He would go on to be involved in a number of other teams before returing to Benetton when Renault took over the team.
Up until September 2009 he was principal of the ING Renualt F1 team. He left the company amid the allegations levelled at the team of trying to fix the result of a race by instructing one of its drivers to crash, thus allowing the safety car's deployment to unfairly aid their other driver during the 2008 Singapore GP.
He is also joint owner of London soccer club Queens Park Rangers.
