Crean appointed as Jockey Club finance chief

The Jockey Club, the largest commercial group in British horseracing, announced yesterday the appointment of Andrew Crean to the new position of Group Finance Director.

Crean, formerly Finance and Commercial Director with contract food and support supplier the Compass Group, will be responsible for all aspects of The Jockey Club’s financial planning, reporting and control.

"We're delighted Andrew is joining us after a very competitive process. He brings a superb track record from three decades of highly relevant experience with the likes of Compass and Granada,” said Simon Bazalgette, Chief Executive of The Jockey Club.

"As the economy recovers, it's imperative we make sound business decisions and position The Jockey Club to capitalise most effectively on the opportunities in the marketplace. As Group Finance Director, Andrew will play a pivotal role in helping to empower the Group with the right information and contributing his expertise to decision-making for the good of our organisation and British racing as a whole."

In his position at Compass Crean worked with The Jockey Club's racecourse arm as part of the £40 million turnover catering joint-venture, Jockey Club Catering.
