In 2009, the Series’ seventh season, teams will compete for the Powerboat P1 World Championship title at Grand Prix of the Sea events across Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
The sun-soaked race destinations and P1’s exclusive VIP entertainment village provide a glamorous and exclusive backdrop for a once in a lifetime racing experience, attracting thousands of spectators, celebrities and the world’s media.
Powerboat P1 is the world’s premium marine motorsport, with teams from around the globe racing at jaw-dropping speeds exceeding 200km (125mph) in supercharged mono-hull powerboats.
Measuring up to 13 metres and weighing as much as seven tonnes, these twin engine powerboats generate up to 1800 horse power – three times the power of a Lamborghini sportscar - resulting in almost 40% more horsepower on the starting grid of a P1 event than Formula One.
Fans from around the globe can also follow the action watching the TV footage, now broadcast worldwide and available in 500million homes.
