On June 27 2008, the Earthrace vessel set a new world record for a powerboat to circle the globe, and she did this with 100% renewable biodiesel fuel, and a net zero carbon footprint. The voyage was over 24,000 nautical miles, and took 60 days, 23 hours and 49 minutes, smashing the ten year old previous reocord by over two weeks.
Pre and post record, Earthrace undertook a promotional tour taking in 185 cities in over 40 countries. The aim of these tours was to connect with people and encourage debate and understanding about biofuels, carbon footprints, and the many other aspects that affect our environment.
Over 1/4 million people have been on board the boat and many millions of others have read about her adventures through the media.
