Our client is the world governing body for basketball. Recognized by the Olympic Committee, FIBA (Fédération Internationale de basketball) establishes official rules and specifications, controls and governs international competitions worldwide, and regulates the transfer of players. For its headquarters based in Geneva/Switzerland, we are currently looking for a proactive and highly committed leader as the new Communication Director.
Your role: Part of the management team and directly reporting to the Secretary General, you are responsible for managing and directing the communication department (about 5 staff). You define and deliver the communication strategy, you build the FIBA and Championships brands within the Commercial, Sports and Institutional strategies of FIBA. You manage fiba.com, the in-house media team and are in charge of media services and operations during FIBA events. As a natural PR leader, you act as the spokesperson and represent the organization toward mass media and will be asked to bring your expertise during crisis situations.
Your profile: With a profound knowledge of sports landscape, you have a track record in developing and implementing long-term communication strategies. Demonstrating excellent communication and people skills, your proven ability in managing staff is combined with a relevant track record within an international environment. Naturally Web communication tools oriented, you also master print and all aspects of the job. Ideally born with a basketball in your hands, you have a great affinity to the world of sports and share its values. Complete fluency in both written and oral English is essential and French and/or Spanish are desired.
