Wooden Spoon is the children’s charity of the rugby world. For 25 years Spoon has harnessed the spirit and values of rugby to give disadvantaged children and young people in Britain and Ireland a chance to achieve their full potential in life. Over this time more than 350 projects have been supported with over £15million given in grants to national and local projects.
The Role:
• Work closely with the 44 Regional Committees to help maximise their fundraising capability and encourage a close working relationship with the central administrative team.
• Work with the central fundraisers and external contractors to create and manage a comprehensive programme of National events and activities designed to develop close relationships with participating individuals and organisations whilst raising significant funds for Wooden Spoon.
• Ensure that Wooden Spoon has a high profile amongst rugby clubs and players, former players, other charitable organisations and the general public by overseeing a comprehensive and continuous public relations and communications programme.
• Set and monitor the annual budget and report to the Executive Committee and Trustees. Ensure that monthly management accounts are produced accurately and on time.
The Candidate:
• Significant experience of working at a senior level with a diverse set of stakeholders. An ability to persuade potential partners and also communicate a clear vision internally.
• Play an ambassadorial role but also be willing to play a hands on role within the organisation.
• Excellent interpersonal, management and communication skills with the ability to work with diverse partners, sponsors and board level decision makers.
