Manassero (17) becomes youngest ever European tour winner

INFOSTRADA SPORTS, Oct 24 – Italy’s Matteo Manassero became the youngest ever European Tour tournament winner on Sunday, claiming the trophy at the Castelló Masters in Valencia (ESP) at the age of 17 years and 188 days.

  • Manassero is one year and 25 days younger than New Zealand’s Danny Lee when he won the 2008 Johnnie Walker Classic at the age of 18 years and 213 days.
  • With his win Manassero claimed a Tour card, becoming the youngest ever full European Tour member, 12 days younger than Severiano Ballesteros (ESP).
  • In May of this years Manassero already became the second youngest member of the European Tour when he made his debut at the age of 17 years and 17 days, just nine days older than Ballesteros in 1974.
