Barrichello claims first GP win in five years

On Sunday, 23 August, Rubens Barrichello won the 2009 Grand Prix of Europe at the Circuito Urbano in Valencia. It was his first GP win in Formula One in five years, a winless streak of 84 Grands Prix.

  • Barrichello’s winless streak was the second longest in F1 history amongst GP winners.
  • Only Riccardo Patrese went longer without a GP win when he failed to win in 98 races between 1983 and 1990.
  • Barrichello won his last GP before Sunday on 26 September 2004 when he claimed the Chinese Grand Prix for Ferrari.
