On Sunday, 23 August, Rubens Barrichello won the 2009 Grand Prix of Europe at the Circuito Urbano in Valencia. It was his first GP win in Formula One in five years, a winless streak of 84 Grands Prix.
- Barrichello’s winless streak was the second longest in F1 history amongst GP winners.
- Only Riccardo Patrese went longer without a GP win when he failed to win in 98 races between 1983 and 1990.
- Barrichello won his last GP before Sunday on 26 September 2004 when he claimed the Chinese Grand Prix for Ferrari.
