With one week to go in the German Bundesliga, VfL Wolfsburg have taken a two point lead over their rivals for the championship, Bayern Munich and VfB Stuttgart. Wolfsburg's strike pair of Grafite and Edin Džeko became only the second pair in Bundesliga history to score at least 50 goals in a season when they both scored in last Saturday's 5-0 win at Hannover 96.
- Only Bayern Munich's strike pair of Gerd Müller and Uli Hoeneß have scored more in a Bundesliga season, netting a combined 53 goals in both the 1971/1972 and 1972/1973 seasons.
- Grafite and Džeko can break this record if they score three goals between them in next Saturday's final Bundesliga fixture for VfL Wolfsburg, at home to Werder Bremen.
