Premier League revenues have increased every year since the competition began in 1992/93, and will continue to do so in the future. According to this research from Deloitte’s annual Review of Football Finance 2009, in 2007/08 revenue growth was 26 per cent, following an 11 per cent increase in 2006/07.
Last year Deloitte predicted total Premier League revenue growth would increase £370 million to £1,900 million, but clubs surpassed that, reaching £1,932 million in the 2007/08 season. This was primarily due to new broadcasting deals and a significant increase in commercial revenue, the latter which will be difficult to maintain during challenging economic times.

Note: Figures for 1991/92 are for the last year of the ‘old’ Divisions One and Two. Projected aggregate revenue for 2008/09 and 2009/10 has been determined, in Deloitte’s opinion, on the basis of assumed growth in revenue streams other than broadcasting monies, plus estimated total distributions to clubs for TV/broadcasting revenue.
