After the decrease in interest levels in 2005 and 2006, Formula 1 needed a new boost in the UK. In 2007, when Lewis Hamilton made his debut, there was an immediate impact on the attraction of F1’s followers, according to this research by SPORT+MARKT’s Sponsoring 21+. Hamilton’s strong performance and growing popularity were key factors in generating higher interest in the race series.
With Hamilton wrapping up the title in 2008 and the emergence of Jenson Button with the
Brawn GP team, an even higher interest in the race series in the next wave of Sponsoring 21+ in the UK.
